I'm curious what people hither would retrieve is ideal for a family with 4-6 kids. Y'all can answer two unlike answers- one if money wasn't an issue at all and one if information technology was - meaning can y'all afford full time help to make clean the house, the heating nib.... likewise what would be your platonic layout, ranch, colonial, basement or not, how many rooms.... | Wed, Jan 06 2016, seven:58 pm | Well I can tell you lot what I have now and what I'd want differently. Family unit of 7. I currently live in a 3600 sq ft home. 5 br and iii bathr upstairs. Laundry room upstairs.
Beginning floor has written report, powder room, large eat in kitchen, family room and ane huge room as dining and living room. 1 car garage. 1/2 of Basement rented, but I continue 1 room for storage and one br and bathroom for guests. I have admission to my section from my 1st floor. It's very spacious and comfortable. I could easily fit here with more kids Layout is entrance hall and steps right past front door. Pretty and spacious but echoes and you lot can see into bedrooms from front door. Besides open into kitchen so you lot tin can see me cleaning/cooking from front door.
Going clockwise: : anteroom, report, playroom, kitchen, dining room, living room. Very functional, open and airy.
I have a housekeeper half-dozen hours daily, information technology's enough to proceed house clean and do laundry. I do organizing, cooking and by pesach I do what's needed. What I'grand missing:
I'd dear a 2 automobile garage, it snows hither and we like parking in garage.
Too built in storage for bikes and outdoor toys Mudroom. I accept a side archway with narrow hallway and coat closet. I put up hooks in that location but I'd love to accept a bigger mud room with a bench and cubbies. 1st flooring guest room. Many of my guests dislike going to the basement. I'd dearest to have a guest room and bathroom right near my side entrance that'south on the offset flooring. Succa roof off kitchen. Those skylights that open for a Succah and you tin can exist indoors by cold weather? Honey those. Home office. Dh study is also are home office, tons of papers, bills and things are there. Identify is never groovy. I'd love a carve up part for bills, papers, computer, etc. and study is only for seforim, learning, a place for Dh to see people. Pesach kitchen in basement. Mine is a closet off my kitchen. I love non having to bring dishes up and down stairs but hard to cook pesach in advance while chometz still in reg kitchen and kids all over the identify. But one thing I've learned from living in a pocket-size domicile is that I detest cleaning and organizing - and that more space just accumulates more clutter, and I like having anybody close and don't need a lot of infinite to spread out. For me, personally, having a smaller business firm is better in the long run. what is important to me and I would love to have on a practical level: Offset floor: - Kitchen big enough to be functional with milk and meat areas, but also not large expanses of counters and floors that have to be washed and cleared. I'd rather accept a huge butler pantry for storage. (or really just lots of storage)
- Big Kitchen eating area
- Fastened living room and dining room to host simchas in my ain abode.
- Divide Play room with big closets and lots of shelving for books
- Study (I work from home) with lots of congenital in shelves (I have this at present and love information technology)
- Powder room
- Mudroom or very big glaze closet, enough space for coats, sweatshirts, boots, blackness hats, tallis, winter outerwear, etc. Upstairs: - 4 - five Bedrooms with big closets (would love functional congenital in closets and get rid of a lot of article of furniture)
- Master Bathroom and additional 1 - ii bathrooms for other bedrooms (would honey sink outside of bathrooms)
- Laundry room Outside:
- Garage or shed would be nice to store succah, bikes, assurance and other outdoor equipment

I recollect functional is e'er more important than size. A well laid out floor program can exist much more practical and useful than an enormous identify. We renovated our kitchen and bathroom and changed the layouts - it'southward so much more useful now and the amount of extra useful infinite is crazy! (we didn't add together any square footage) We are vi people in 2100 sf and information technology's definitely spacious enough for us. Notwithstanding we take a great room that takes up a big chunk of our square footage. Simply that square footage is only wooden floors, which is non a big deal to clean. One thing I would love is a well covered outdoor area, like a really big porch that we could eat on when its nice atmospheric condition.
Years ago when I was in S Africa I saw that a lot of people had these beautiful outdoor rooms and I loved it. We had such nice Shabbos meals outside!
I would dearest to have a study for my husband, he currently spreads himself out on the dining room tabular array and we need to articulate it all for shabbos each week...
A big laundry room, then that all laundry stays in at that place! I end upwardly with baskets of make clean washing all over the place waiting to be folded and put away, I would love to incorporate it to one room.
Tons and tons of shelves and storage!!!!
We all dearest books and my husband has many many seforim, there never seems to exist enough infinite for them all.
The house we are renting now is bh quite spacious in many ways, but so impractical, for instance we accept no linen cupboard, so sheets and towels are on a shelf in the hallway upstairs. Drives me crazy!
The kitchen is also built in a really impractical way. Space wise it's big but the layout is just ridiculous and sick planned. I would love two proper big sinks, two big ovens (at present we accept a toaster oven for milchig) and a small-scale parev expanse with a sink.
I besides dream about having a gorgeous garden one day. With a huge erstwhile tree that gives lots of shade, an area for planting herbs and vegetables, some fruit copse, lots of space for kids to play and a cute wood cubby firm. Lol I could go on for a while! Housing here is ridiculously expensive and then I accept a feeling I'll be dreaming until we win the lottery  | | | | Dorsum to summit | 1 1 |

I have a great layout, and yes I take dreams for some things different, but short of building a house myself or doing renovations with coin I don't accept, they will remain a dream...and that's ok. I'm thrilled with this firm and it works for us well.
We have a sort of separate level. Half flight upward has 3 BR, 1 regular BA, ane chief BA. Linen cupboard in bathroom and in hallway and an additional storage closet in hallway.
Main flooring has LR and DR in an L-shape, coat closet (still needs tweaking), large eat in kitchen, door to porch. Oh, and my office. I forgot nearly that. It can be a small sleeping accommodation if need be (has closet and window).
Half flight downward has a playroom and ii bedrooms and a door to outside.
Half flight downwards from that is basement with BA, laundry machines in furnace room, a couple closets, and a garage (2 auto officially, but nosotros park no cars in it considering the driveway is so super sloped that we never bulldoze down at that place).
We have room to spread out and brand individual messes....what could exist greater?  (If I had even a couple hours a week of cleaning help, that would brand my dwelling house a lot neater, merely for at present information technology is what it is.) Dining room and Living Room open up to each other so we can host many people at one time for parties, simchos, etc. Mudroom - a must! For briefcases, boots, kids coats... This room can also double equally a large storage for extra kitchen items like sugar, flour, disposables Playroom on same floor because kids don't go to a basement playroom as oftentimes as i that's on the aforementioned floor as Mommy working. Pesach kitchen, I like those that are long closets that can be entered from a side door until correct before Pesach and so one of the walls of the cupboard can be removed erev Pesach and is open to the dinette area. The higher up rooms should be facing the front of the firm and the following rooms should be towards the back of the house: Bedrooms, I'd say 5. Two full bathrooms and some other full 1 off the master sleeping accommodation. Laundry room with shelves and table for folding, ironing. Walk-out Basement -
-two bedrooms and bath for guests or married kids coming for Shabbas to take their ain privacy.

We have iii bedrooms and 2 bathrooms upstairs, squishy kitchen (only ii sinks!) dining room, living room, half bathroom, and small playroom on footing floor, and basement with laundry room, tiny invitee room and bathroom, and big open play expanse. Funny thing is I often say I could do without the basement or the small playroom. My kids hardly apply them!
I do not like all the cleaning - I feel like my house is never actually clean unless I go cleaning help.

A den/or playroom area is important, being on the same floor equally the kitchen. I desire a basement because we practise store stuff and to use some of the space as an office or extra sleeping space. Yard is important, but doesn't need to be huge. Don't need or want more than 4 bedrooms/3 bathrooms, even with a few more kids than we accept at present. If you have a lot of teens you might want to give them their own modest room. And a garage that we use for storage. A bathroom. Upstairs we have 4 bedrooms and a bathroom, and an additional cranium bedchamber. I would love a downstairs guest suite with bathroom and a much bigger playroom with space for couches and bookshelves. As well an practise room.
